From the minute this was announced I fully expected it to be horrible and just another unnecessary remake, then it started getting nothing but good reviews in the last week or so. I saw it tonight and have to say it’s worth the praise. The story isn’t really something that hasn’t been done before but the meta humor and making fun of the fact that it’s an unneeded remake is done incredibly well.
Channing Tatum also proves he’s more than just a wooden plank stuck their to look good and Brie Larson is in a tiny skirt throughout most of the film. Solid movie overall and definitely worth checking out at the time of year when movies are usually horrible filler between Oscar season and summer time.
I went to an advanced screening and wasn’t expecting much. But this movie was pretty damn funny. As Ron Swanson basically/blatantly says 15 minutes into the movie:
Theres a special undercover unit. Its pretty dumb but was big in the 80s. And since the people in charge don’t come up with any new good ideas and just keep recycling the same old crap over and over again, they restarting it.
The two of you report down to 37 Jump Street! Wait that doesn’t sound right…
So anyway I highly recommend it.
